Over the last few years I've had lots of people ask when I'm going to make some prints to sell, so I finally pulled the trigger and did a limited run of letterpress prints. They were printed by the fine folks at Hound Dog Press, here in Louisville and will be available for purchase on this site first thing Monday morning, December 2nd for $35 each. Whether for yourself or others, these prints make for a great gift and are ready for framing.
The prints are 8x10 inches with 2 color black & metallic gold ink printed on 110lb Crane lettra cotton paper.
New Work: Troublesome Houses Show
I was asked earlier this year to create a piece for a show entitled troublesome Houses, an exhibition inspired by the music of Will Oldham. I've listened to Bonnie Prince Billy for years, so it was a no brainer. One of my favorite songs of his is called "I see a Darkness" which has been reworked many times over the years including a cover by Johnny Cash. I wanted to create a piece that centered around the title, set against a swirling storm.
I used the opportunity to experiment with acrylic, designing a dimensional piece, seven layers deep. Needless to say I was extremely pleased with the final result. Kevin Titzer curated an amazing show, which kicked off it's opening night last friday. The show will be on display thru December 14th at PUBLIC Gallery 131 W. Main St. Louisville, KY.

New Work: Shelby Park Mural
Recently I was commissioned to create a mural in the Shelby Park neighborhood in Louisville by Access Ventures. Working with the neighborhood association, we talked to members of the community about what Shelby Park meant to them and how they would summarize the neighborhood. The response was overwhelming and after pouring over the feedback I focused on a statement that reflected Shelby Park's positive outlook and growth as a tight-knit community.
As opposed to previous murals the building was very wide, presenting a great opportunity to explore new constraints. After several mock-ups I decided to create a design that is legible in it's entirety from the street. Once approved, I again collaborated with sign painter Kirby Stafford to bring the design to life.
